Rev. L. Robin Murray
Robin is Faith in Texas’s newest Lead Community Organizer. Ordained as an itinerant elder in the African Methodist Episcopal (A.M.E.) Church, Robin serves as the Assistant Minister of Children’s Ministry at Joy Tabernacle A.M.E. Church in Dallas, TX. Additionally, she serves as Secretary of the A.M.E. North Texas Conference, Women in Ministry.
Robin recently earned her Master of Divinity with a concentration in Urban Ministry from Southern Methodist University, Perkins School of Theology. While at Perkins, she served as chair of the Justice in Action Committee, as well as president of the student organization, L@s Seminaristas. Robin was Perkins’ first recipient of the Harry Hosier Spirit Award, as well as the recipient of the B’nai B’rith Award in Social Ethics for “scholarly competence in the field of social ethics and personal commitment as shown in voluntary activity in support of worthy causes.”
Robin is passionate about those who are marginalized and directly impacted by systems designed to oppress, divide, and dehumanize God’s people. Her faith moves her to help people connect their faith to actions and to give hope and empower those in and outside of congregations. When this native Texan is not actively engaged in the Ministry of Justice, she loves spending time with her husband, Ron, and their miniature schnauzer, Wiz.
“Robin is the most positive and passionate person I know. She is an amazingly gifted mentor, a highly skilled coordinator and an incredible organizing teacher. Robin is truly a Godly woman with a positive and infectious attitude and personality that is matched by her tremendous skill. She is able to effectively present new and complicated material in a manner that is understandable, a skill that is essential for mentoring a new justice group like ours. I am grateful to Robin for the hard work, time and passion she devotes to us on the Trietsch Memorial UMC Justice team.” – Jeanne Fox, Captain and Grant Liaison, Justice Seekers Team, Trietsch Memorial UMC
