As people of faith, we cannot stand aside as the mass incarceration system we so heavily invest in destroys the lives of those we are commanded to love in our many faith traditions. But what can we do? Friends - we have an opportunity in September to make our people safe from Dallas County's incarceration system. If you want to reverse the tide of locking people away then join us on 8/26 to hear what things (big and small) you can do in the next few weeks to put your faith into action and end mass incarceration in Dallas.
Are you curious to hear how we are confronting mass incarceration and making our budget a more moral document in Dallas County? Are you wondering what it looks like to organize faith communities in Texas to pursue racial, social, and economic justice? Do you want to just talk justice theology? Then Join Rev. Murray, Joe Swanson, and Dr. Ben Robinson for Organizer Office Hours where we build community and put our faith into action!
We need our folks to register to speak so we can push for a budget that invests less in the incarceration of our members and neighbors and starts investing that money in community needs. So you're feeling like you should speak but you're not sure what to say? Check out our Advocacy Tool to walk you through building your testimony step by step.
At this point the County will have passed the County Budget for 2022. We are going to get together to take inventory of what was passed and our impact. We'll celebrate the wins and strategize on what's next! All are welcome! Join us to celebrate, strategize, or just listen in!
Faith in Texas, with the permission of Redeemed Women, is inviting you to have a conversation about racism and its visible effects in our local communities as we ride Redeemed Women’s van (aka Vanna White) through to the South Dallas’ Fair Park/ Bonton neighborhood. This experience will provide the opportunity to hear first hand from Redeemed Women about the everyday challenges their friends face in their community. The ride will conclude with an offer of opportunities to partner in building relationships that address the spiritual, physical, and vocational needs we learn about. COST: In order to honor the ministry of Redeemed Women who is leading this event, we are asking all participants to provide a gift of $100 to Redeemed Women before boarding the van. METHODS OF PAYMENT: ONLINE: CLICK HERE TO MAKE YOUR DONATION or CHECK: Bring a check on the tour date made payable to Redeemed Women
